Our Vision is to show our children the Holy Bible is the Living Word.
Take a look around your community. There are hundreds of places that need a helping hand. Your neighbors are a great place to start. Does someone need their garden weeded or leaves raked? Their trash taken to the curb each week? Their dog walked every afternoon? Groceries picked up at the store? A ride to church or the clinic or just out to the country? There are so many places in need of a smiling face and a helping hand. A children's hospital or wing, nursing home or assisted living center, shelters, solider home, hospital, hospice, soup kitchen, library, animal clinic. Stop by and ask what you can do to help them out. Rock a newborn baby to sleep, pet a kitten, listen to a story, hand out rolls, hold someone's hand, read a book, sweep the floor, give a blanket. These things are easy enough for a child to do, yet mean so very much to the person in need. Another helpful way to give is to teach. When I asked my 4th grade Girl Scout Junior troop if they wanted to learn how to make scarves to donate to the domestic violence shelter, they brought tears to my eyes when they suggested teaching the ladies how to make the scarves as a way to feel empowered and earn some money of their own. Keep this in mind when helping out: people are not looking for handouts as much as needing a helping hand. |
